Systems and Network Administrator Profile

Essential skills:


  • Advanced knowledge of Windows, Active Directory, Office, and Office365 configuration and maintenance
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux (Debian and Red Hat) configuration and system functions
  • Advanced knowledge of Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP) with ability to configure VMs and Web Applications
  • Knowledge of websites design and hosting (including JavaScript/HTML/CSS/Apache)
  • Administration and installation of VOIP and phone systems such as Asterisk
  • Advanced understanding of ISP services/protocols/concepts (IP, TCP, DNS, Mail, HTTP(s), Routing, Switching)
  • Hardware installation & configuration (Cisco, Juniper, HP, desktops, laptops, mobile devices)
  • Installation and management of monitoring & logging tools (e.g. Zabbix, Nagios, Solarwinds)
  • Knowledge in collaborative/ERP/CRM/accounting software and credentials management systems.
  • Experience in systems integration and migration
  • Experience with virtualization (e.g. VMware, VirtualBox)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with attention to detail
  • Energetic team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent technical written and verbal English

Desirable skills:


  • Good written and verbal French, Kinyarwanda, and Swahili
  • Knowledge of OSX/macOS
  • Experience managing and configuring databases (including MySQL)
  • Experience in security and business continuity, disaster recovery
  • Experience working to security standards such as ISO 27001
  • Cabling, patching, and physical network installations

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and administration of computing environments including systems, applications, and hardware.
  • Configuration, management, and maintenance of cloud system.
  • Website, SSL certificate, and domain management.
  • Management of user accounts and on-boarding and off-boarding of employees.
  • Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing IT security measures.
  • Maintenance, configuration, and monitoring of devices and security
  • Organization and scheduling of upgrades and maintenance with minimal downtime.
  • Configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of backup and replication, including documentation and testing.
  • Systems and Services monitoring (e.g. Zabbix, PRTG).
  • Proactive identification of issues and production of solutions/proposals that address these issues.
  • Maintenance of equipment inventory and records/logs of repairs and fixes.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other system problems.
  • Provision of technical support for offices and employees (some out-of-hours support may be required).
  • Creation and maintenance of IT-related documentation and training material.
  • Keeping up to date with new technology, potential security vulnerabilities, and resolution methods.
